Still Life

As you may have read before I love taking pictures! I also love volunteering and hiking and being outdoors. Last October - wow I cant believe it was almost a year ago already - I had the opportunity to join Trekking for Kids on the trip of a Lifetime (atleast that is what National Geographic called it) - Everest Base Camp. Leading up to this trip we trained our bodies to endure the strenuous hike but also raised  over 30,000 for a local orphanage. Once in Nepal, we spent our first days adjusting to the altitude and visiting the orphanage, including a super fun field trip to "The top of the world Hotel" (really just a really really high up hotel). We departed our cute little ones and spent 2 weeks stretching, pulling, pushing, crying, laughing, freezing, sweating, but making it to Kalapatar (Black rock) and Everest Base Camp about 18,000 feet. I will never forget the feeling, once I pushed past my numb toes, as I hugged that Everest Base Camp Rock, a feeling I will never forget. However, the journey was only half over. We made our way safely down and a new wave of excitment came over us - we were headed back to the children to see how the progress on the house was coming along.
These children have so little and yet they make you feel like they would give you the world if they could.
After a very overwhelming 6 weeks I headed home, but I will never forget my time in Nepal and all those amazing people that touched me.

This past weekend Meijer was having a sale on photobooks. I have been wishing for a long time now that I could get my pictures out in the open - digital cameras are amazing but most of the time the pictures end up hiding away. I spent 4 hours putting together a photo book that actually brought tears to my eyes as I flipped through it and shared with my family. Now I have a visual memory of this trip and I will cherish that.

I wanted to share some of my pictures with you. It is my dream to sell my photos but for now I will settle with sharing them with those around me.

I hope you enjoy.
