Feel That Beat - Nicole

JL Brown

Music makes me feel pure, free and innocent.  I feel like it talks to me, my own poetry.  It can trigger any mood that I’m in.  When music hits you, you feel no pain” Bob Marley and I couldn’t agree with that more.
So let’s talk music
Are you ever looking for some new music to listen to, a new voice, and some new beats?  Well I have someone for you to keep your ears tuned in for, an upcoming new artist Mateo.  He is an R&B Pop artist who writes his own songs collaborating with the beats produced by JL Brown, another person who you should keep a look out for.
Mateo is from Cincinnati and grew up in a family that was surrounded by music.  He also started off as a MySpace records signee.  JL is from the Bay area in California.  He started to make his own beats out of his bedroom with just his Mac computer.  He then learned that Mateo's soulful sound would go perfectly with his beats.  The two met many years back and when they got together they made some rockin jams, including their first single "Complicated" (the single that caught the attention of MySpace Record). Now the two are working with many upcoming artists daily in a studio.  "We want our music to be able to translate in a crowd filled stadium but yet still be able to speak to each individual." -JL Brown

Mateo

JL always wanted to be a producer.  He loves music - "Good Music inspires me like a drug.  When I made my first beat, I was hooked.  Producing for me is all about the challenge of conveying a feeling that other people can relate to."-JL Brown.   Another inspiration for JL to become a producer was Alicia Keys first album Songs in a Minor which was produced by Kerry "Krucial" Brothers, who is also an inspiration for Mateo.   Just like Mateo and JL Being inspired by music for me is such a wonderful feeling.  I can’t even explain how many times, I’ve heard a song when I was down in the dumps and that song inspired me to do something with myself or keep doing what I am doing and not give up.  It can be career moves, relationship problems or even just working out and going that extra mile.

The Guys hard at work in the Studio

After 3 years of working together they got the opportunity to link up with Kerry "Krucial" Brothers.  Krucial was able to help and show both JL and Mateo some remixes on some songs they have already worked on.  Kerry "Krucial" Brothers signed both Mateo and JL to his Krucial Noise label, Mateo being the artist and JL being one of the main producers.  The album will include a special guest feature - ALICIA KEYS!!!  This is obviously something that is probably very exciting for them both! I mean how could it not be?!!   I just think it is such a wonderful thing that these two growing up in different areas of the US were able to meet each other and combine their skills to make such harmonizing, astonishing music together.  I know this is the kind of music I can’t miss  out on and is definitely playing on my IPod mix.
We are unsure when the album will be released but for now fans can check out the mix tape:

You can also check out Mateo’s newest video
